My new favorite thing right now is 8tracks, where you can make your own mixes and share them with others. I've been finding so much great new music and I love the mix tape format, so I finally got an account and created my own Slowish November mix.

Some food photos from this weekend. Justin and I cooked up some vegetable stir fry with tempeh and served it over rice with peanut sauce. It was awesome. We also baked up this little teeny molten chocolate cake we got from the farmers market which was almost as beautiful as it was delicious. It puffed up inside its little glass bowl and then collapsed into itself to reveal a molten center. Soooooo good.

Also this weekend we met up with Derek at the Crocodile for a free show which paired up Icelandic artists with Seattle musicians, which was a ton of fun. We absolutely loved Lay Low's music (check out By and By) so we went to see her again last night at the Tractor (which also happened to accomplish an item on my list!)

I seriously cannot get enough of Arcade Fire's new album The Suburbs. I was listening to it on loop for my long walk down to the marina. If you haven't heard it yet go listen. It might change your life.

Here is my favorite spot in San Fransisco: the Sutro Baths. It is the remains of an old swimming pool complex built in the 1890's and burned down in the 1960's. Now you can wander the ruins and climb climb up the cliffs surrounding them and pass through giant holes in the cliffs to see the ocean on the other side. It was so beautiful and a little bit haunting.

Also, I saw The Helio Sequence play last night and they were fantastic! You should check them out.

Père Lachaise

Père Lachaise is now one of my favorite places in the whole world. I wasn't expecting this. I only came here to see this guy:
because he was featured in Paris, je t'aime and the cemetery was at the end of the #69 bus tour recommended by Rick Steves.

But I got here and it was about 85 degrees and I was sweating like crazy and listening to Fruit Bats on my ipod and it was one of those perfect moments that feels like a dream, like I stumbled upon something too good for real life. The sky was a perfect bright blue and the enormous trees cast shadows everywhere and provided some relief from the heat. There were cobblestone pathways and plenty of reasons to leave them and explore the beautiful old graves and monuments. I wandered with my camera out for hours, listening The Ruminant Band on repeat because it made the perfect soundtrack. I took a leisurely lunch break at a nearby cafe and sipped a refreshing glass of Chardonnay and then plunged back into the cemetery. I even came back for another few hours another day because I couldn't stay away from this place. I want to see it in all seasons, all times of day. I am coming back.
